Filename: Stem_Measurements.xlsx Article which data supports: Bocko et al. 2023. Allometric equation for Raphia laurentii De Wild, the commonest palm in the Central Congo Peatlands. PLOS ONE, XXXXXX Corresponding author: Dr Yannick Bocko Corresponding author email: byannickenock@gmail.com Description: A file containing the measurements of stem variables for each of the 90 Raphia laurentii individuals destructively sampled. Variables: Raphia laurentii Individual: The unique code for each of the 90 Raphia laurentii individuals destructively sampled. Diameter at the Stem Base (cm): Diameter of the stem base of the Raphia laurentii individual, measured in centimeters, prior to felling. Stem Total Height (m): Height of the stem of the Raphia laurentii individual, measured in meters, prior to felling. Number of Palm Fronds: Number of living palm fronds of the Raphia laurentii individual. Stem Fresh Mass (kg): Total fresh mass of the Raphia laurentii stem, measured in kilograms, in the field using a hanging balance. Stem Dry Mass/ Fresh Mass Ratio: The mean dry/fresh mass ratio of three 5 cm thick subsamples taken from the top, middle and bottom of the Raphia laurentii stem. Subsamples were dried at 101 °C until constant mass. Stem Dry Mass (kg): Total dry mass of the Raphia laurentii stem, measured in kilograms. This was obtained by: Stem Fresh Mass * Stem Dry Mass/ Fresh Mass Ratio
